The buyer decides Qingqiao is “stronger.”
Done.
That logic is dangerous.
The 2021 harvest-season study did indeed report significantly higher forsythiaside A, phillyrin and phillygenin in August material compared with October material. It also found meaningful regional differences.
Then a 2022 investigation produced a result that complicates the story. Researchers used a rat bile-duct-ligation model of cholestasis to compare green and ripe Forsythiae Fructus and reported that ripe material performed better than green material on several endpoints associated with toxic bile-acid accumulation and related pathology.
